Serhii Morhunov: The Conference in Switzerland Became a Platform for a Multi-level Exchange of Opinions on a Scale That Had Never Been Seen Before

On July 5th, the Ukraine Recovery Conference continued in Switzerland. The heads of local self-government bodies of three Ukrainian cities took part in it, along with representatives of the central government: Vinnytsia - Mayor Serhii Morhunov, Dnipro - Mayor Borys Filatov, and Lviv - Mayor Andrii Sadovyi.
The key event of this day is the presentation of the final document of URC2022 - "Declaration of Lugano".
It defines three basic priorities: people, economy, infrastructure. Vinnytsia Mayor Serhii Morhunov announced this in his Telegram channel and on his Facebook page and noted that this position is consistent with Vinnytsia's approach to the formation of key documents of the city - at one time, such accents became basic in the Development Strategy of Vinnytsia.
The head of the city noted that local self-government was also discussed at the conference. In particular, the Prime Minister of Ukraine noted that "the decentralization reform and independent local self-government made it possible to defend every city and every community on the ground."
Therefore, Serhii Morhunov believes that the municipalities once again confirmed their ability to act effectively not only in peacetime, but also in wartime, and lived up to the expectations that were laid in the idea of decentralization.
"Now it is important that new tools and opportunities for cooperation, which are currently being formed at the state level, should be available to local self-government," says the head of the city.
Serhii Morhunov also added that the conference on the restoration of Ukraine is an important event for our country. It became, first of all, a platform for a multi-level exchange of ideas on a scale that has never been seen before, and with an unprecedented number of world institutions and specialists who are ready to help our country.
"Therefore, participation in it is useful. I focus on holding meetings that will help strengthen the city's economic sector and increase the number of jobs. After the conference, I will also visit Zurich for the Swiss Trams for Vinnytsia project. As always, I am paying for this business trip myself," said Serhii Morhunov.
