12 October 2022, 11:57
Communication between the two cities began at the initiative of representatives of the municipality of the German city of Karlsruhe, who expressed a desire to establish sisterly ties with the Vinnytsia City Territorial Community. Such friendly relations will contribute to the development of our community and the community of the city of Karlsruhe in a bilateral manner. Among other things, it is about improving the comfort of the urban space and the socio-economic climate in both communities.
"The development strategy of the German city of Karlsruhe and our Strategy have similar goals and areas of work. They are ready to share with us the best practices of spatial development and architectural planning, transport network and mobility, issues related to ecology and "green economy", - says the Mayor Serhii Morhunov.
Potentially, the business of both communities can cooperate in the field of IT, the food industry, and renewable energy. Cultural and educational exchanges can also be the starting point of partnership.
The first such step will be the establishment of a partnership in the field of education - student exchanges: Vinnytsia students and young professionals will be able to intern under the exchange program in Karlsruhe. This decision was made at the first online meeting between mayors Serhii Morhunov and Frank Mentrup.
Such interaction will improve the quality of municipal administration in our city and help to resist the consequences of the war.
"The establishment of twinning relations with Karlsruhe is an important event for our city. In matters of urban development, we focus on and implement precisely German approaches and principles, which are the most effective and sustainable. Therefore, the twinning with Karlsruhe will open up even more opportunities for us to attract and adapt the best practices," says Nazar Kovalenko, director of the Institute of Urban Development.
